Guitars at Cosy

It is fun and interesting to see the swedish music scene that doesnt merely exist through self-promoted hype on internet and within the club scene, not meaning to hate on anything from Gothenburg or so, but a big cheer to Cosy yet again.

After attending their “fingnissel” night on Friday, I’ve been wondering about the possibility of any good and interesting underground scene nowadays. Today, The music scene in Sweden tend to be so interconnected and active, both from listeners and performers, that any talent or “fun” gets to play part in the mainstream circus, i.e “indie”. This is not a bad thing, not at all but it does take away a possibility of contextuality that some might thrive and excel within.

I really did like Culkin, gave me fever dreams of dinosaur jr and a reason to revisit my youth. Southside Cavern, a low-key basement, works for good ol’ guitar-fed indie. They work within this space, getting the whole thing right, but I’m pretty sure that if they brought something more than guitars and fond memories to the table then they’d be up on kulturhuset without any intent of playing golf. And that is out of the safety zone.  I might just be rambling, glorifying a new chapel hill scene and calling for someone to actually start playing roof-top golf. (skrapan!)

Culkin was good! G’damn they even review Polvo on their site!

ps. just a helpful tip – do not youtube “culkin”.. ds
